The year started with exciting releases that captivated thousands of players. Of course, in recent weeks, there have also been titles that, despite their good ideas, failed to resonate completely with the community. One of the latest exclusives for PS4 and PS5 falls into the latter group, but youll be glad to know that you can try it at no extra cost if you act quickly and meet this requirement.

Get FOAMSTARS for Free on PS4 and PS5 via PlayStation Plus

As promised at the beginning of 2024, FOAMSTARS, Square Enixs latest live-service game, debuted in February exclusively for PlayStation 5. The good news is that active subscribers at all levels of PlayStation Plus can add it to their library at no extra cost.

However, February is now behind us, and Sonys subscription service will soon be updated with the lineup of free games for March. Havent gotten the Square Enix multiplayer title yet? Dont worry, as you have a couple of hours to add it to your library.

As a reminder from social media, FOAMSTARS is still part of the free games lineup for PS Plus. If you are a subscriber, simply click here or visit the PS Store from your console to add it to your library at no extra cost. You can download and play it for free as long as you keep your membership active.

Remember that FOAMSTARS is available at no extra cost through PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium (Deluxe).

If you miss this opportunity, youll have to purchase the competitive title, although you can keep it forever. Starting from Tuesday, March 5th, it will leave the subscription service and cost $30 USD on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

What is FOAMSTARS?

In case youre not familiar, let us tell you that FOAMSTARS is a multiplayer game from Square Enix where 2 teams participate in fast-paced matches with the goal of destroying members of the opposing team. It features hero shooter elements, as each character has unique abilities and advantages.

Since its reveal, this competitive proposal caught attention and generated controversy due to its similarities with Splatoon. In fact, producer Kosuke Okatani admitted that he disagrees with the comparisons and claims that the title is very different from Nintendos franchise.

Unfortunately, FOAMSTARS was unable to resonate with players. At its launch, it received harsh criticism for its monetization system and other elements of the overall experience. At this moment, it has an average score of 59 on Metacritic.
