This racing video game was disrupted by an interesting detail
By Víctor Rosas onSomeone forgot that 2024 has one more day

2024 is a leap year, meaning it has February 29th, and although this is an interesting detail that may or may not be relevant in our daily activities, it did impact gaming as a title faced issues not recognizing the date marked on the calendar.
EA Sports WRC stopped working due to the leap year
Just as it happened with a Final Fantasy installment, another video game was affected by the leap year and the existence of February 29th. It's EA Sports WRC, the first installment of the rally franchise developed at Electronic Arts by Codemasters. Early on, users reported issues with logging in, and since it is a game that relies on an internet connection, it simply did not work properly.
Through a series of messages on Twitter, EA's consumer support account informed EA Sports WRC players that the game's system did not recognize February 29th, so some adjustments were necessary to play.
Regarding this, EA Sports WRC players on PlayStation and Xbox were asked to go to the date and time settings on their consoles, select the option to set both manually, and simply set it to March 1, 2024.
After the process, the EA Sports WRC system and the connection to EA servers skipped February 29th, and from tomorrow onward, players can go back to their console menus to reassign the option for the date and time to be set by the internet.
