Quinta entrega ya de la veterana saga musical de Activision que llega con diversas novedades. Una nueva selección de más de 85 temas del mejor rock volverá a ser el plato fuerte del juego. Entre sus novedades incluye un inteligente sistema de partidas rápidas para jugar con nuestros amigos, la creación de grupos con los instrumentos que queramos y la mejora de GHTunes. Como siempre, su jugabilidad y diversión siguen intactas y te harán pasar muchas horas pegado al juego.

Un nuevo Guitar Hero está por llegar en las próximas semanas y con él, un gran número de cambios. Es fácil darse cuenta de que algunos de ellos los conocemos de Rock Band.
El juego es casi el mismo pero con algunas diferencias. Ahora es posible revivir a tus compañeros. Ya no tienes que perder cuando juegan juntos, los que quedan tocando sólo necesitan jugar bien y podrán levantar a su compañero, a diferencia de Rock Band, donde necesitas utilizar una parte del Star Power de alguno de ellos. Otra característica nueva es el Star Power; si recuerdas, en Guitar Hero: World Tour todos tenían un Star Power comunal, y cualquiera podía utilizarlo en todo momento. En Guitar Hero 5 es diferente, cada jugador tendrá su propia barra de Star Power y la usará cuando le parezca más conveniente. Una característica nueva más son los Momentos de la Banda, que son secciones en la canción que tú y tu banda deben de tocar a la perfección para conseguir un mayor puntaje.
Guitar Hero 5 incluirá 85 canciones de 83 diferentes artistas. De ellas, 25% son consideradas frescas, por haber salido en los últimos meses, 50% salieron en esta década y 25% se denominan clásicas. Además de los 85 temas, 152 de las 158 canciones que están disponibles como contenido descargable para Guitar Hero: World Tour, serán compatibles con Guitar Hero 5; podrás seguir jugando la mayoría de los temas que compraste sin tener que cambiar de disco.

Guitar Hero 5 pinta para ser el mismo juego que conocemos, con algunas modificaciones, lo único rescatable será dejar de cambiar disco cada vez que queramos jugar canciones de los Guitar Hero anteriores. El juego estará disponible en septiembre de 2009.
