Yu-Gi-Oh! is expensive entertainment and criminals are well aware that certain cards can be worth thousands of dollars. Sora Takashino and Kanta Sanmi, 2 Japanese men, were recently arrested after attempting to steal over $33,000 USD in cards from the popular franchise.

The incident occurred last March 13, in Akihabara, Japan. One of the 22-year-old men entered the Fukufuku store, which specializes in collectible cards. He asked to see an expensive card outside the display case and that's when he tried to escape. However, the authorities foiled the crime and arrested those involved.

According to details, one of the criminals entered the store and asked to see one of the rarest and most sought-after cards in the franchise: the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, which was being offered at Fukufuku in exchange for $33,500 USD.

The police report reveals that the subject ran out of the store as soon as he had the valuable card in his hands. He then jumped into a waiting car and attempted to escape with his loot. However, authorities found the subject and his accomplice a short time later. They were arrested and charged with robbery by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Investigation Division 3.

The thief explained that he decided to steal the card as he needed money for his daily living and entertainment expenses. On the other hand, the driver of the vehicle defended himself and claimed that he did not know that his companion had gone to the store to commit a robbery.

It is known that the subjects auctioned off the Blue Eyes White Dragon at another store in the region, as they wanted to make a quick and easy profit. Police did not disclose whether they recovered the card or what will happen to the detainees.
