The brand-new Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon game was revealed during The Game Awards on December 8. And Miyazaki confirmed in an IGN interview that it won't be a Soulslike title; instead, it will focus on having massive boss battles.

FromSoftware director Masaru Yamamura also participated in IGN's interview, and he spoke about the main aspects that the game will focus on. He stated the following:

“Boss battles are the highlight of the game in this title. The essence of the battles, in which the player reads the enemy's moves and then plays games with them, is of course provided, as is typical of FromSoftware. In this title, both the enemy and your own machine are aggressive and violent in their attacks."

"We are developing the game so that players can enjoy the dynamic and intense boss battles that only mechas can offer," Yamamura continued, "along with the unique aspects of AC, such as how to assemble the right parts to take on the strongest enemies.”

Hidetaka Miyazaki contributed by stating that FromSoft has “not been making a conscious effort to try to direct [Armored Core VI] towards more Soulsborne type gameplay.”

Taking into account what has been said in this interview, we can infer that the new title of this great franchise will not seek to be labeled as a Sci-Fi Souls-like game. On the contrary, it will seek to revive the world of mechas with a game style that will distinguish it from its predecessors, taking advantage of the essence of the game style for which this franchise is recognized.
