Video games are one of the best modern pastimes, there's no doubt about that. But there's a time for everything, and the head coach of the Italian national football team made it clear that he wants them away from his players in the training camp.

Although this has been observed for decades, it is increasingly common for athletes to prefer playing video games in their free time, even hours before participating in a real sporting event.

It seems that members of the Italian football team are avid gamers to the extent of playing during team concentrations. Naturally, the team's head coach, Luciano Spalletti, is not happy with this, so he raised his voice and put a stop to his players.

"If modernity is playing PlayStation until 4 in the morning with a match the next day, then it doesn't work," said the coach (via La Nación). "From now on, leave the PlayStations at home and don't bring them anymore. (...) You come to the Nazionale to win the Eurocup, not to win at Call of Duty."

For those players who finished their daily activities and had plenty of time in the evening, they would simply have to visit Spalletti for him to give them some tasks if they didn't have enough with the ones from the day.

"I'll come up with a little game for them to think about to distract themselves at night," commented the coach regarding the ban on PlayStation (via Alfredo Pedulla).

Spalletti made it clear that the goals and values of the Nazionale are clear and must be so for each of the selected players, and that they must do everything to ensure victory and not get distracted by other things, especially when they are in full concentration.

"Today's kids prefer to put a photo on Instagram with their hair done before lowering their heads and working. These are not the values that my Italy should convey." "(...) Because in the national team, you stay on course, you focus, you don't waste time," Spalletti concluded, recalling the phrase of the All Blacks rugby team: "there are no idiots here."
