Sea of Thieves will have a Beta on PS5, how to play the Rare title before launch?

The former Xbox exclusive will soon arrive on PlayStation 5.

After many rumors, Microsoft revealed earlier this year its plans to bring some of its exclusives to more platforms. One of them is Sea of Thieves, the pirate game by Rare. Its debut on PlayStation 5 is very close, and some players will have the opportunity to set sail before the official release.

Let's remember that the former Xbox exclusive will arrive on Sony's next-gen console on April 30. At the official launch, there will be cross-progression and cross-play, meaning that users from all platforms can play and adventure together seamlessly.

As we slowly but surely approach the port's debut for PS5, Rare announced a Closed Beta that will take place this weekend. Access is restricted, so only players who meet a requirement will be able to play the title before the launch.

How to access the Closed Beta of Sea of Thieves on PlayStation 5?

Through their official website, the development studio confirmed that Sea of Thieves will host a Closed Beta between April 12 and 15. Only fans who pre-order the Standard, Premium, or Deluxe editions of the game will have access and be able to participate in the free trial.

Players who join the Beta will earn renown, coins, and cosmetic rewards through the Season 11 progression system. They will also receive 10 levels of renown for Season 12, while progress and unlocked items during the trial session will transfer to the final version when it debuts later this month.

Users will not be able to visit the Pirate Emporium or play with users from other platforms. Also, trophies will be disabled.

Although it's disappointing that the Beta is only available to players who pre-order one of the editions, many people have already reserved their copy. Currently, Sea of Thieves dominates the pre-order list on the PS Store along with Grounded, another Xbox exclusive coming to the next-gen console in April.

These could be good news for PlayStation fans. According to a report, Microsoft will consider bringing more exclusives to other platforms if these releases prove to be successful.

But tell us, are you a PS5 player, and will you give Rare's game a chance? Let us know in the comments.
