The Last of Us: Oscar-nominated actor joins the cast of Season 2

Despite the controversy surrounding it, the live-action adaptation of The Last of Us was a critical success and broke audience records. Naturally, HBO greenlit Season 2, which is already in production. Now, it has been confirmed that a prestigious actor has joined the cast.

The new episodes of the TV show will bring back Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, who will once again portray Joel Miller and Ellie, respectively. Additionally, it was revealed that Isabela Merced will play Dina, Young Mazino will portray Jesse, and Kaitlyn Dever will take on the role of Abby.

The controversial The Last of Us: Part II introduces a plethora of new characters. One of the most notable is Isaac Dixon, a former military man who plays an important role in the plot. We now know who will portray him in the HBO series, and there's good news for the game's fans.

It's official: Jeffrey Wright will be Isaac Dixon in The Last of Us series

Through a social media post, the official HBO account confirmed that the prestigious actor Jeffrey Wright, who recently received an Oscar nomination for his excellent performance in the film American Fiction, will take on the role of Isaac Dixon in the adaptation of the Naughty Dog video game.

The 58-year-old American actor confirmed his involvement in the TV show on his Instagram and Twitter accounts, though he did not reveal further details.

A segment of the community celebrated this news, as Jeffrey Wright portrayed Isaac Dixon in The Last of Us: Part II from 2020. Thus, he joins a small select group of actors who worked both in the PlayStation franchise's video games and in the live-action adaptation.

Remember that actress Merle Dandridge reprised her role as Marlene in the first season of the series, while Troy Baker, the original actor for Joel, and Ashley Johnson, who plays Ellie in the video games, had small roles in the HBO megaproject.

The The Last of Us series is expected to return in 2025 with the debut of its new episodes. While awaiting more information, the first images showing what Ellie and Dina will look like in Season 2 have been leaked. Additionally, HBO has already shared the first official look.
