Play Dying Light for Free This Weekend Before The Beast Launches
By Pablo Hierro onTechland is offering the original Dying Light free on Steam for a limited time, letting players revisit Harran before The Beast arrives.

The Dying Light saga is in full swing as Techland gears up for The Beast, the new installment that promises to be the most ambitious and accessible yet. But before players explore the mysterious Castor Woods, the studio wants fans (and newcomers) to revisit the beginning of the horror survival series.
Setting the Stage for Dying Light: The Beast
As part of this push, the original Dying Light will be completely free on Steam from August 21 to 25, so PC players will soon be able to dive into Harran, relive the intense nights of survival, and experience the story of Kyle Crane.
Bear in mind that the version available on Steam includes the retouched update from June, which improves graphics, lighting, textures, and other technical elements to make the game look better than ever.
Naturally, this promotion isn’t random. According to Tymon Smektala, creative director of The Beast, the game takes place after Dying Light 2 and includes references to both previous titles. So, revisiting the original will not only refreshes your memory but also serve as an introduction for new players.

What’s Waiting in The Beast
The next installment shifts the action to Castor Woods, a setting full of mystery and terror where Kyle Crane returns as the protagonist. The game will feature a stronger narrative focus, new stealth and exploration mechanics, brutal combat, and, of course, the parkour that defines the series.
Dying Light: The Beast launches September 19, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
