Star Wars Celebration 2023 was a true celebration for franchise fans, as new and important projects already in the works were confirmed during the event. One of them is none other than a new trilogy of films.

The big surprise is that the first film will tell us about the events that happen 15 years after Rise of Skywalker. This means that Daisy Ridley will return as Rey, who will star in a film that will explore the reconstruction of the Jedi Order.

Star Wars will return to the cinema with a new trilogy

The first film of this new trilogy will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who will tell us what happened to Rey after Rise of Skywalker. She stated that she has always been attracted to telling stories about the journey of a hero, so she is excited for this opportunity.

Surprisingly, Ridley appeared at the event and showed great enthusiasm for the new project. "My heart is beating so fast. I am so excited to continue this journey", the actress said.

For now, there aren't many details about this film, but we know it will focus on the restoration of the Jedi Order. On the other hand, other films were confirmed under the direction of James Mangold and Dave Filoni, who is the executive producer of The Mandalorian.

We know that Mangold's film will focus on the beginnings of the Jedi, while Filoni's will focus on the New Republic. Disney confirmed that Filoni's production will conclude with the interconnected stories of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka.
