The waltz of dark-tinged games continues in the run-up to Halloween with Unholy, an ambitious paranormal thriller developed by Duality Games, a software house founded by former members of the Painkiller, Bulletstorm, and Gears of War development teams.
Duality Games chose a dark experience with a strong narrative focus to launch their new studio. Unholy will explore two parallel universes on screen, one in the dreary reality of a brutalist village in post-Soviet Eastern Europe and the other in the horrific atmospheres of a cosmos of flesh and blood fashioned by the diseased minds of an unscrupulous caste of witches and priests.
What exactly is this new title?
The Unholy writers' Steam overview characterizes the game's gameplay as a mix of riddles, pure exploration phases, shooting dynamics, and stealth bangs. The title's uniqueness will be represented by its combat system, which is based on the emotions of anger, fear, sadness, and desire: we will be able to interact with the environment (for example, by destroying obstacles or activating mechanisms) and make contact with the paranormal entities that haunt the scenario thanks to them.
In the sinister world of Unholy, everyone hides behind a mask, and so will our alter-ego: masks will give the player new abilities and allow him to infiltrate enemies.

In case you missed it: The best indies that will arrive on PS5 and PS4 in November 2022.
The release of Unholy is tentatively scheduled for 2023: at the moment, the only platform indicated by Duality Games is PC, but as is often the case in these cases, the success of the title on Steam should favor its future landing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
