Embracer Group completes the acquisition of Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal
By Frida Salazar onThe companies will form the 12th operative group under the company

Back in May Embracer Group announced the purchase of several western studios from Square Enix. After some months of paperwork and regulatory processes, the company finally completed the acquisition of Crystal Dynamics, Eidos and Square Enix Montreal.
So, from today Embracer Group is now the owner of important sagas such as Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, Thief and other IPs.
Through a press release posted in their official website, the companies will form the 12th operative group under the leadership of Phil Rogers and his management teams. For now, the company is not revealing more details however it will be given on a later date, however they assured us that they will keep developing “ground-breaking” entertainment with their recently IPs & new original ones they have been working on.
In case you don't remember, Embracer Group paid $300 MDD for Crystal Dynamics, Eidos and Square Enix Montreal, fortunately the deal was possible thanks to Square Enix's interest in restructuring its business and teams and their upcoming plans to venture into the NFT games field and the blockchain.
We are very thrilled to see what projects will emerge after this acquisition, some players are almost sure that the first IP to receive a remake will be Tomb Raider, others hope for a Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver remaster… just time will tell.
