Rumor: Sledgehammer is working on a Call of Duty Advanced Warfare 2 sequel

According to a rumor spread by insider Ralph Valve, Sledgehammer Games, authors of the recent Call of Duty Vanguard, has reportedly already set to work on making a sequel to COD Advanced Warfare, a futuristic installment of the shooter series originally released in 2014.
Sledgehammer's storytelling team had a desire to further explore its world and make several sequels that evolved Vanguard's cast of characters before the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard. However, due to disappointing market performance, Sledgehammer reversed its decision and decided to withdraw from Advanced Warfare.
The developers of a possible sequel to Advanced Warfare would go on to create a more fast-paced and dynamic sci-fi shooter. Given the reception given to Infinite Warfare in 2016, which was also based on a futuristic concept, Activision and Sledgehammer may be taking a risk in any case.
The sequel to Advanced Warfare will use the IW graphics engine (now shared by Activision's studios) and will be released in 2025, a year after the new Black Ops in Treyarch's hands (Modern Warfare 2 is expected to last two years, according to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier).

As Warzone continues to expand, strategies to bring new experiences to Battle Royale players will increase in number and variety, and the futuristic twist could be one of them.
