Time goes by very fast and it seems like yesterday it was 2016 and the return of DOOM thrilled all the fans. The installment that marked the return of the IP after DOOM 3 became an instant success but getting there wasn't easy and even the project had to change radically.

Recently, the head of the Twitter account The Gman's Archive shared a concept trailer of what in 2012 was known as DOOM 4. The material was found and downloaded from id Software's Artstation profile. Although it was later removed, the community did its job to keep it active on social networks and preserve this part of the history of one of the franchises that marked gaming forever.
In the video, you can see that the focus of DOOM 4 was leaning towards a more terrifying experience in confined spaces, moving away from the traditional formula and perhaps as the next step after what we witnessed in DOOM 3.
The video highlights the terrifying creatures but also its impressive audio section leaving the idea that it would have been a very scary experience, perhaps questionable as a DOOM but acceptable from other perspectives as a shooter and horror game.

This trailer is certainly a very interesting one, and although the initial horror-focused concept is a far cry from the final product we got in 2016 yet many fans consider it would be a unique DOOM experience they would like to try. Perhaps some future title may fulfill this wish someday coming in the form of DLC if the developers consider it.
