SEGA has now decided to make the beloved hedgehog Sonic the star of a new free visual novel about a murder. Through a statement, SEGA announced the launch of The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, a "bold new" experience designed for fans of the blue hedgehog. It is a visual novel with point-and-click elements that can be downloaded for free on Steam.
In The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, you will take control of a new character who has just started his first day of work in the Mirage Express. There, several Sonic the Hedgehog characters are celebrating Amy Rose's birthday when something unexpected happens: Sonic is murdered. So, you will have to solve the mystery behind this crime.
"When Sonic the Hedgehog becomes the game's victim, everyone is off to get to the bottom of things. However, something feels a bit off. Interrogate some of your favorite characters from the Sonic series as you figure out what happened to Sonic. Is this really an innocent game or is something more sinister afoot," states the official description of The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog.
As you can imagine, The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is not a serious release and is only an April Fools joke. That is, the game is real and you can play it, but it is a joke to celebrate this day. But SEGA gives you permission to consider it part of your mental canon.
The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is available for free on Steam. So, to play it you just have to go to its Steam page and add it to your library. Then just download it to start playing.
