Following the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery, many wondered what would happen with HBO Max and Discovery+, their streaming services. It didn't take long for the company to confirm that they would merge to create a new service, but no further details were given. Now, the company has finally shared all the details of its new service.
According to Warner Bros. Discovery, HBO Max will cease to exist in the US starting May 23. Once that date arrives, the service will be replaced by a shorter and simpler name: Max. It will be a service that will house all the series you love from HBO, in addition to the unscripted content that has made Discovery a success.
Max will be offered in 3 subscription tiers. The first one will be the ad-supported tier, which will be offered for $9.99 USD per month ($99.99 USD per year), allowing you to access HD content on 2 simultaneous screens and programming with commercials. The ad-free plan will have a monthly fee of $15.99 USD ($149.99 USD per year) and features streaming on 2 simultaneous devices in HD and up to 30 offline downloads. Finally, there is the Ultimate plan, which for $19.99 USD per month ($199.99 USD per year) will allow you to stream on 4 simultaneous screens in 4K UHD and up to 100 downloads.
But what if you already pay for HBO Max? Then your account will now work on Max, as long as you continue to pay for the service.
