"He deceived the CMA": Players blame Jim Ryan for Microsoft and Activision merger block

Part of the community imagines Sony's executive celebrating the regulator's decision.

Players are disappointed after the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) blocked the purchase of Activision Blizzard. We know that Sony and PlayStation have been very vocal on the issue and have strongly opposed Microsoft's acquisition.

In part because of this, some players decided to lash out at Jim Ryan, head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, as they believe he got his way. Several people even criticized him for allegedly influencing regulators' decisions and directly accused him of deceiving the CMA.

It is no secret that Jim Ryan has given all kinds of arguments to block the purchase of Activision Blizzard. He even claimed that he did not want any kind of deal for Call of Duty since his only goal was to stop Microsoft's acquisition.

Now that the CMA has blocked the deal, part of the community has lashed out against Sony and PlayStation's executive. Some even pointed him out for allegedly deceiving the UK agency to tilt the balance in his favor.

"Pathetic. Jim Ryan clearly deceived the CMA into initially presenting absurd talking points against the Activison Blizzard deal only to have to turn around and abandon them once it became apparent how foolish raising them was," said one Twitter user.

"As someone from the UK who is a PlayStation fan, you guys are idiots and have no idea how the game market works. You were probably secretly bribed by Jim Ryan to block it," said another person.

There are also players who filled social media with memes, as they believe Ryan is more than satisfied with the CMA's decision. So the community imagines him celebrating big time for today's verdict, which complicates things for Microsoft.

"Well, in the end, Jim Ryan did what any CEO would do: defend the company to the last consequences. Now we have to see what the relationship between Activision-PlayStation will be like," another Twitter user pointed out.
