Another country approves Activision buyout; Call of Duty and more sagas are almost in the hands of Xbox

The acquisition process will soon be completed

Microsoft's purchase of Activision Blizzard is close to completion, as yet another region joined the list of countries that approved the acquisition. After months of investigation, the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission decided to approve the deal without any concessions.

This is great news for Microsoft, which is now only awaiting the final decision from the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). According to reports, the purchase could be completed as early as this week.

Taiwan approves purchase of Activision Blizzard

According to Taiwan authorities and regulators, the deal between Activision Blizzard and Microsoft complies with the operating procedures without any drawbacks, so they decided to give the green light to the purchase without any conditions.

From the perspective of the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission, the economic benefits of approving the purchase will outweigh the disadvantages of restricting competition in the industry.

Thus, Microsoft has a clearer path to complete the acquisition of Activision Blizzard and its franchises soon. In case you don't remember, the CMA has until October 18 to give its verdict after provisionally approving the deal.

Sources claim that Microsoft and Activision Blizzard are working to close the deal as early as this Friday, October 13. However, nothing is guaranteed and this could happen as late as next week.

On the other hand, it looks like Microsoft will still have to deal with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which will try again to block the acquisition. As of this writing, more than 40 countries have already approved the purchase, so it is only a matter of time before it is completed.
