According to sources at VGC.com, Deviation Games recently went through a layoff process in which approximately 90 people lost their jobs. According to software engineer Kyle Perras, the studio went through a difficult situation that forced them to make layoffs.
"My studio recently went through a tough situation and was forced to make a number of layoffs, of which I was part," were Perras' words.
It is unknown whether this situation means that the game Deviation Games is preparing for PlayStation 5 has been canceled. Recently, reports emerged that Sony had canceled a science fiction AAA game and that PixelOpus had closed its doors. Thus, it would not be surprising if Sony ended this project too.
At the moment, Sony has not made any comments on the matter. Deviation Games has also not shared an official stance on this unfortunate situation. We will keep you posted and inform you when we know more.

Deviation Games is a development studio based in Los Angeles, California, United States. It is a studio founded by industry veterans who worked on the Call of Duty franchise. In fact, one of its founders was Jason Blundell, who worked for several years at Treyarch. However, the executive left Deviation Games at the end of last year.
Deviation Games was founded in 2020, and in mid-2021, it was confirmed that they were working with PlayStation on a new franchise for PlayStation 5.
