According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony and PlayStation officially announced that Gran Turismo's movie, directed by Neill Blomkamp, will star Stranger Things actor David Harbour.
Stranger Things' success is also bringing the very talented actor David Harbour to the spotlight. Sony and PlayStation Productions have announced that he will play one of the main characters in Gran Turismo, directed by Neill Blomkamp, in his first significant production in a few years.
Gran Turismo's screenplay was written by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin and is based on a true story. That of a teen whose gaming prowess paved the way for him to become a professional racing driver.
David Harbour will play a retired driver who instructs the boy on how to drive. So, in a certain way, this will be a tribute not only to the driving simulation video game series but also to its players.

“As one of PlayStation’s longest-standing and most beloved franchises, it’s great to be partnering with Columbia Pictures again to bring Gran Turismo to life in an exciting way,” PlayStation Productions' president Asad Qizilbash said.
“We can’t wait for audiences to see Neill’s vision of this inspiring true story of gamer turned professional race car driver.”
