Destiny 3 is in development? Bungie declarations and leaks get fans dreaming
By Daniel Laguna onThe community speculated about a new title of the saga

Despite its recent stumbles, Bungie remains more than committed to Destiny 2 and its future. It is currently working on The Final Shape, the next major expansion for the sequel. This week, the studio talked about the future of the saga and fans were quick to speculate about the development of Destiny 3.
Players recalled some leaks about the franchise that surfaced some time ago. They revealed details about The Final Shape that have just been confirmed. What's interesting is that there was also information about the third installment of the saga, so now everyone believes it's on its way.
Is Destiny 3 already in development?

"Facing The Witness is not the end of Destiny 2, and it’s definitely not the end of Destiny. After you face The Witness, we’re going to tell you what’s coming next to Destiny 2 – and beyond. We’ll see you soon", stated Luke Smith, Bungie's creative director, in a recent stream.
During the same event, the studio revealed the new Prismatic subclass, which will allow players to combine the powers of the Light and Darkness . This new feature and Smith's statements drew a lot of attention from players, who recalled a recent leak.
A reddit user claimed in February that Bungie was working on a system to precisely combine variant powers. What's interesting is that the same source talked about Destiny 3 and some of the new features it will supposedly offer fans.
"Destiny 3 is (was? idk) in development under code name payback. One of the big changes for Destiny 3 is (was, again idk) for classes to no longer exist and allow any character to spec into any ability since lore wise there is no reason you couldn’t," the insider assured.
Now, the community believes in his report and is already dreaming about the new installment of the franchise. However, it is important to mention that Bungie has not yet confirmed the third game in the saga or any project codenamed Payback.
Currently, the studio is still working on Destiny 2 and Marathon, its next big game. However, it is inevitable to think that Destiny will continue to be active in the future in some form, as it has proven to be a very popular franchise.
