The Squanch Games’ shooter concept was developed by Rick and Morty’s co-creator Justin Roiland, so it's not a surprise that this relation has helped the game to be as popular as it is now mainly because uses a similar type of humour as the TV series.
Now, how do we know High on Life got these numbers? Easy, all of the statistics are based on the number of hours played in the game’s first days after release.
Actually, Squanch Games Studio Director, Mike Fridley expressed how impressed they were after reaching this feat:
“This was our first time launching a game with Game Pass, and we’ve been blown away by the response from the players who have made us the most popular game on Game Pass right now. When Squanch Games was first created, it was to make the games we wanted to play – and Game Pass is helping us reach the players that want to play those games too.”
