Marvel and NetEase Games surprised fans with the official announcement of Marvel Rivals, a new competitive game bringing together various heroes and villains from the comics. Although some details have been revealed, fans have a burning question: will there be ports for Xbox and PlayStation?
The companies revealed that the competitive video game inspired by Overwatch will be available for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. While the release date remains a mystery, they've already shared the minimum and recommended requirements users will need to run the game on their computers.
Since Blizzard Entertainment's free-to-play is also available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, people are wondering if NetEase Games will follow suit and bring their free hero shooter to consoles in the future.

Marvel Rivals Could Come to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, Developers Suggest
At present, the only confirmed version is for PC; however, the development team suggests that Marvel Rivals could eventually arrive on more platforms.
In the questions and answers section of the game's official multiplayer Discord, NetEase Games reveals that the first version to debut will be on Steam. They then emphasize that they will explore the possibility of porting to other platforms and encourage players to stay tuned for further announcements.
"The game's first stop will be on Steam; however, we're actively exploring potential releases on other platforms. Stay tuned for more announcements as our universe expands!" the development studio commented.

As for which platforms the company refers to, it's impossible to know for sure. The most likely options are Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, although it's not unreasonable to think that the free-to-play title could also come to Nintendo Switch. Early rumors, which were mostly accurate, also indicated that Marvel Rivals would come to PC, consoles, and mobile devices.
Nevertheless, it's advisable to take these statements with a grain of salt and await formal announcements. In the meantime, interested players can already sign up to participate in the upcoming Closed Alpha scheduled for May.
