For years, we have been living in the era of live streams. What began with Reality Shows led to the formation of a content creator scene that took over internet video platforms, competing with traditional TV. Gaming played a significant role in this transformation, and it's good to know that some streamers use their success and generated income to help others, like the famous MrBeast.
MrBeast Built 100 Clean Water Wells in African Communities
Renowned YouTuber James Stephen "Jimmy" Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, is once again in the spotlight for his recent philanthropic project through his initiative, Beast Philanthropy. This time, MrBeast decided to address the issue of clean water in communities in Cameroon, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, and Zimbabwe by building 100 wells that will serve society to deal with this crisis, which, in some cases, has gone without proper attention for a long time.
Reports also mentioned that MrBeast visited schools in Kenya to deliver new furniture, whiteboards, computers, projectors, and soccer balls for practice.
As has happened on previous occasions, MrBeast's actions generated some criticism, but this time it was not directed at him but rather at the governments of the countries where he built the clean water wells. In this regard, activists acknowledged the YouTuber's work but used the opportunity to criticize their respective governments, which were exposed for their social neglect of a basic human right like access to clean water.
Previously, MrBeast was in the midst of controversy when he decided to pay for cataract surgery for 1,000 people. At that time, he was criticized for carrying out altruistic actions to gain attention, boost his online image, and ultimately profit from it. However, this time, the criticism was directed at African governments, which seem to have a significant debt to their society.
