Naughty Dog pays heartful in-game tribute to late developer
By Sara Araujo onDaniel Kinnard passed away during TLOU Part 1 production

The Last of Us Part 1 just launched today for PS5. And as the game arrives to many hyped users, Naughty Dog animator Robert Morisso shared a very heartful message on Twitter regarding a development team member who passed away during production.
The tweet reads: “Daniel was a producer at Visual Arts. He passed away during development of the game. Naughty Dog immortalized him here. He was a wonderful person.” Oh, those ninjas are cutting onions…
This touching tribute can be found on a poster adorning the walls of the farmhouse players' search when looking for Ellie. The developer has been reimagined as a pro baseball player for the Denver Skulls. I can’t imagine how hard but beautiful it was to immortalize him in the game.
This image turned Twitter into a tearful place for TLOU fans. Everyone thanked and pay respects to Kinnard with lovely messages. The official Twitter account for Naughty Dog also took part in this beautiful tribute:
