As promised, Electronic Arts released the first official trailer for Need for Speed Unbound, the latest installment in the arcade racing series. The clip, which you can see at the beginning, immediately highlights some of the unique features of Criterion Games' latest effort.

Need for Speed Unbound, as seen in the reveal trailer created in collaboration with rapper A$AP Rocky, does indeed feature the classic drag racing theme but from an entirely new perspective for the franchise.

Graphically, the developers researched and discovered a kind of hybrid, creating a meeting point between a realistic and an anime-style aesthetic.

We can see this in the character modeling and characterization, but also in the smoke effects that appear after a full-speed racing scene. This is a brave solution on the part of the development team, who wanted to bring a breath of fresh air in this regard.

Need for Speed Unbound will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on December 2nd, as revealed at the end of the video. Pre-ordering guarantees three days of early access as well as some exclusive items.
