After a long wait, Redfall debuted on May 2. But what was supposed to be a moment of celebration and joy for Xbox players turned into disappointment when the launch was unable to meet expectations. Arkane's new project seems to be headed for failure.

Redfall debuted with negative ratings from both specialized press and players. The community argued that the title is generic and boring, and condemned the numerous technical problems that mainly afflict the Xbox Series S and PC versions.

In addition, it seems that Arkane and Bethesda's latest game did not capture the attention of fans. This is indicated by the fact that it only managed to peak at 6129 simultaneous players on Steam, which means that Forspoken, another of the most controversial games of 2023, had a better launch on Valve's platform.

Redfall enters the top 15 worst-rated games on Steam

This finding comes from Steam 250, a website that uses a patented algorithm that takes into account average ratings and the number of reviews to determine the best-rated video games on the platform. Of course, the same technique can be applied to discover the titles that appear on the other side of the coin.

Redfall is currently ranked number 14 among the worst-rated games on Steam, above Capcom's Umbrella Corps, Activision's Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, Konami's eFootball 2023, and Electronic Arts' Battlefield 2042. User reviews are only part of the spectrum, so that do not necessarily reflect the quality of the product.

That being said, it is striking that Arkane's new action game had such poor reception. Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, apologized to players and expressed his disappointment with the launch. Despite this setback, he assures that 2023 will be a great year for the brand.
