Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck have shown that there is room for portable gaming beyond mobile devices. That's why different companies have jumped on the trend and launched their own portable gaming devices. The latest to do so is Asus, who this morning unveiled the ROG Ally.

Asus' ROG Ally will be a laptop PC in the form of a video game console. This platform runs Windows 11, making it compatible with all games that have official support for Microsoft's operating system.

The ROG Ally comes in 2 different models for different needs and budgets. First, we have the most powerful model, which features an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor with an 8-core Zen4 CPU and 16 threads (5.10 GHz). It's also equipped with an AMD Radeon Graphics (RDNA 3) GPU with 12 CUs, 8.6 teraflops, and 2.7 GHz. Additionally, it has 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory and 512 GB of NvMe M.2 SSD memory. This model is priced at $699.99 USD and will be available for sale on June 13th.

Both models include a 7-inch multitouch screen with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) and a 16:9 aspect ratio. To run your games at high frame rates, it has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a response time of 7ms. So you don't have to worry if it falls one day, Asus equipped it with Gorilla Glass DXCy and Gorilla Glass Victus. Lastly, it has a brightness of 500 nits and supports Dolby Vision HDR and AMD FreeSync Premium.

An interesting detail about Ally is that it's compatible with an XG Mobile external GPU to increase its power. This way, you can connect it to a TV or monitor and use it as a home console that offers high-resolution gaming.
