After the darkest period in its history, Blizzard Entertainment is starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel, and the success of Diablo IV might be accompanied by an announcement that fans of the company have been waiting for a long time: a new installment of StarCraft.
StarCraft 3 rumored to be in development
According to a report by Insider-Gaming, the highly anticipated StarCraft 3 could be in development, as mentioned by one of the most recognized personalities in the gaming media. Jez Corden, editor of Windows Central, participated in a Twitter conversation where a user suggested that the franchise should be "revived" by Blizzard. Corden responded that it was not necessary. Then, he was asked if this meant that StarCraft 3 was in development, to which he answered "yes."
The tweet was deleted shortly after, but it was already too late, as the news spread like wildfire on social media, igniting the hype among StarCraft fans.
StarCraft is a science fiction and military strategy game created by Blizzard and released in 1998. Its debut and success marked a new era in strategy games, and it was followed by expansions, a sequel, and even a remastered version of the original game, as well as an impressive esports scene. The idea of a third installment has been circulating in the community, as many feel that the company has not given enough attention to the IP, but it seems that their wishes might be fulfilled soon.
