Back on October 26, 2022, CD Projekt RED and developer Fool’s Theory announced via Twitter that 2007's The Witcher will have a remake using Unreal Engine 5. The game is still early in development, but something extra has been revealed in the third-quarter financial results by CD Projekt RED.
CD Projekt RED has a description in the remake project that reads "story-driven, single-player open-world RPG – a modern reimagining of 2007’s The Witcher" confirming a new, unexpected fact about the game is that The Witcher will be a fully open world. Apart from this information, nothing has been said by the studio yet.
Just as the Twitter post stated, "we want to do this right, so please be patient, it's gonna be a while until we can share more details." That means we still need to wait a couple of months for news regarding the game's development or new information. Hopefully, they will do everything right and will go down as a new favorite in the franchise.
In case you missed it: Activision not marrying Game Pass and PS Plus.
The Witcher, developed in 2007, shows Geralt's adventure around the Temerian capital of Vizima. Players could only access the royal castle in The Witcher 3. However, the entirety of Vizima will be accessible in The Witcher remake.
