TikTok future in the US at risk
By Frida Salazar onRegulators threaten to tighten restrictions or a total ban

2023 doesn’t look well for some companies, according to a report from Axios, the Chinese-owned short-video platform TikTok is on thin ice as it's facing even tightening restrictions and the possibility of a total ban.
As you already know, last month the app was banned on every U.S. federal device as the House's Chief Administrative Officer considered the app a"high risk due to a number of security issues.”

It could disappear soon
Is not a secret that TikTok dominates the social media landscape, however, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) is not happy with its existence or at least its practices and if they don’t fix their security issues soon the CFIUS will shut down the app or green light an order to sell itself to U.S. owners.
Actually, the Axios report also noted that TikTok is already in a proceeding by the CFIUS and as we said before if they don’t reach an agreement the Chinese app will end up disappearing.
Right now the negotiations have intensified, with TikTok offering expanded security plans involving Oracle as a partner and started hiring consultants to help implement any deal.

Is it working?
Not really or at least not inside the U.S. government as this has escalated to the point that in congress, some legislators are growing impatient with the CFIUS process and have started implementing their own solutions; up to 12 states are taking special measures too.
Could 2023 be the year when TikTok disappears from the American social media landscape? We will know later this year.
