Tomb Raider will soon have a new and ambitious live-action series, thanks to Amazon MGM Studios. The project is progressing day by day, and two leading actresses have emerged as contenders to become the new Lara Croft.

Sophie Turner and Lucy Boynton Vie for the Role of Lara Croft in Tomb Raider
According to a new report from Deadline, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) and Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody) are set to audition for the role of Lara Croft. Previously, this iconic video game character was portrayed by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.
The report notes that it’s unclear if other actresses will be auditioning to play the gaming world’s most iconic adventurer. Emma Corrin and Mackenzie Davis were previously rumored to be competing for the role, but reports now suggest they aren’t in the running.
However, this doesn’t guarantee that Turner or Boynton will be the next Lara Croft. It’s possible that neither may meet the expectations of the Tomb Raider Prime Video creative team, prompting them to pursue a different direction.
To date, Amazon MGM Studios has not issued a comment regarding the report.

Fans React Negatively to Potential New Lara Crofts
The Deadline report didn’t sit well with the gaming community, which remains skeptical about Turner or Boynton taking on the role. Some fans even suggest giving Alicia Vikander another chance to play the character.
“They’re missing something, and I’m not sure what it is,” said @TheOtherBarber.
“Yeah, I just don’t see it. Something doesn’t feel right,” commented @TheZearGuy.
“Bring back Alicia Vikander, or even cast Ana De Armas before Sophie Turner,” suggested @PewNightmare.
