The top management of Amazon Games and Crystal Dynamics announced that they have agreed to develop and publish the next chapter of Tomb Raider on Unreal Engine 5. The video game division of the eCommerce giant and the California-based software house take the opportunity to share new details about the project.
What we know so far
The announcement of this important partnership comes with a card explaining how "Amazon Games will provide full support for the project and will take care of publishing the game globally. The new Tomb Raider, as yet untitled, is a single-player narrative adventure that will continue the story of Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider series."
Amazon Games and Crystal Dynamics explain that the title will include within it "all the elements that have made Tomb Raider one of the video game industry's most iconic franchises. The title will allow players to control a confident character in an interactive environment that will reward exploration and creative pathfinding, with plenty of mind-bending puzzles to solve and a wide variety of enemies."
In case you missed it: Hogwarts Legacy has gone gold! but there's also bad news.
The adoption of Unreal Engine 5 and the alliance with Amazon Games to shape Tomb Raider will, according to Crystal Dynamics boss Scot Amos, represent an "extraordinary opportunity for his team.''
