Zack Snyder believes that Gears of War and Halo would work as movies

It's becoming increasingly common to see movies or TV adaptations of video games that are successful. There are very popular franchises that have not yet expanded into other media, like Gears of War, although there's a filmmaker who believes it would work well as a movie.

We're talking about Zack Snyder, the director you probably recognize for his work on films like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or Zack Snyder's Justice League. The filmmaker was present at gamescom in relation to his new production, Rebel Moon.

Accompanied by his wife and also producer, Deborah Snyder, he participated in an interview with IGN, during which he was asked about which video game franchises would work well if adapted into movies.

According to Zack Snyder, Gears of War should work on the big screen

Snyder's response was very interesting, as he not only mentioned Xbox's Halo and Gears of War, but he also revealed that the latter often comes up in conversations within his "circle."

"There are many [game IPs that would make good movies]," Snyder confessed. "We talk a lot about... Gears has always been mentioned in our sort of circle. I've always been interested in the Halo franchise... of course, they already did that in a certain way, but it's something I always thought would be amazing," the filmmaker commented.

Snyder didn't go into further detail, so we don't know if he had the opportunity to be involved in the Gears of War adaptation. After several years of anticipation, it was announced in 2022 that the franchise adaptation will finally become a reality thanks to Netflix, which will also produce an animated series. As for Halo, Paramount also released the first season of the live-action series last year, and the second season is currently in production.
