With the group stages kicking off on Friday, 100 Thieves surprised everyone by advancing undefeated to the next stage. Actually, they not only were a surprise (as the roaster is completely new) they gave an incredible show at the semi-finals facing the French-based Team Vitality in a match that had us on the edge of our seats at every second.
Their last opponent Cloud9 was a fan-favourite to rise the cup and all the odds were in their favour after they gave an incredible show in their match with the Sud-American team KRÜ Esports.
In the end, their match was epic and while Cloud9 was the dominant force during the whole tournament, 100 Thieves showed off their abilities by winning the first map 13-10 and with Sean “Bang” Bezerra finishing the match with a total of 31 kills and a 41% Headshot Rate.
By the end of the second map, 100 Thieves secured their lead winning Fracture 13-9 putting the scoreboard 2-0, this time with Derrek Ha getting a 40% Headshot Rate. Sadly for Cloud9 they could never cope with the machine that was the 100 Thieves team and lost the third map.
Without further due, we will leave the video of the award ceremony below:
