NVIDIA officially unveiled Portal RTX, a free update for Valve's platforming masterpiece that will introduce Path Tracing support via RTX Remix technology, at an event to introduce the GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080 GPUs.
The American tech giant sent Portal fans into a frenzy by showing the very first gameplay scenes of the re-release 'in RTX sauce,' which will boast full support for the latest dynamic lighting technologies in Path Tracing.
The Valve and NVIDIA demonstration video shows the undeniable benefits of activating the more advanced RTX effects, with significantly more immersive environments and hyper-realistic effects when using the Portal Gun.
As pointed out by NVIDIA house itself, Portal RTX will be offered completely free in November in the form of a downloadable mod for the original version of Portal on PC.

''Portal with RTX and RTX Remix also introduces a number of graphical enhancements that improve ray tracing, immersion, realism, and your overall experience,'' the company's official website reads.
''The end result is incredible, enhancing Portal, putting it on par visually with today’s latest and greatest games. And with gameplay that’s still as good today as was in 2007, Portal with RTX delivers the definitive experience for anyone discovering Portal for the first time or returning for a fresh playthrough.''
