PlayStation Studios has several game-as-a-service projects in development, but there are also some focused on storytelling, such as the horror game from Firesprite, a studio that ]Sony acquired in September 2021. If you were hoping to know more about this game, there's good news, as it seems it will be ready sooner than you imagine.
Considering that Sony and PlayStation Studios haven't officially revealed this project, one might think it's still far from being ready; however, the tentative release year has just been brought to light, and it's not so distant.
When will Firesprite release its horror game for PlayStation 5?
The information comes from Agnes Hvalstad, an artist who worked at Firesprite for 11 months, precisely from June 2022 to April 2023.
In her ArtStation portfolio, the artist mentioned the game as an "unannounced AAA project," and it caught attention that she indicated the release was scheduled for 2025.
The artist's LinkedIn profile was also somewhat revealing, suggesting that Firesprite's new game is a "dark and quality AAA horror project" in which she worked as a conceptual artist.
Both profiles were later modified and ultimately completely deleted, but users (such as those on ResetEra) managed to capture evidence of the profiles.
When will PlayStation reveal Firesprite's horror game?
It's important to remember that the only information we have about the English studio's new project is through job listings and information like in this case, but nothing official from PlayStation or Sony.
If the tentative release year proves to be accurate and there are no delays, the project's revelation shouldn't be far off, and we should expect more information in 2024, especially considering it's a AAA project. However, it's unclear whether Firesprite is the main developer of this game or if it's a support studio, or if it's a new or old PlayStation franchise or an external IP.
