The Japanese company will offer a better base salary and bonuses to its workers.

The video game industry is going through challenging times. Despite exciting game releases, recent months have seen massive layoffs affecting PlayStation, Microsoft, and other companies. In these dark times, Capcom has shared very positive news.

In a press release, the Japanese company announced that it will increase the salaries of its employees in the short and medium term as part of its current human resources investment strategy. Undoubtedly, this situation contrasts with what is happening in other sectors of the industry, especially in the West.

Amid a wave of layoffs, Capcom will increase its workers' salaries

According to the information, Capcom plans to increase salaries by an average of over 5% in the next fiscal year, starting on April 1 and ending on March 31, 2025. Additionally, it will raise the starting salaries for new hires from ¥235,000 JPY to ¥300,000 JPY per month, an increase of around 28%, starting in April 2025.

Furthermore, current employees and those hired before March 31, 2024, will receive a one-time additional payment. This initiative represents an "investment in the people who support the future of the company," explained Capcom in its official statement.

The company explains that investing in its personnel has been a priority for the past couple of years. The current strategy resulted in a reorganization of its Human Resources operations, an average 30% increase in the base salary in 2022, a new bonus system linked to the company's business performance, and more.

At the end of the statement, Capcom explains that it will work to address the issues facing society while aiming to improve its corporate value and "establish a relationship of trust with employees and stakeholders." It's worth noting that Japan recently entered an economic recession.

This news comes shortly after the company announced that it will hold a series of special events on Thursday, March 7, and Monday, March 11. It is expected to share more information about Monster Hunter Wirld, Dragon's Dogma II, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and more.
