Artificial intelligence continues to be a topic of discussion, both for better or for worse. In the realm of video games, it is often viewed with skepticism due to potential implications for creative work that could compromise the quality of the final product, not to mention ethical concerns. Fans speculated that the new Naruto game took advantage of artificial intelligence in its development, and amid the controversy, Bandai Namco Entertainment clarified the doubts.
Interestingly, this week, users have speculated about the possibility that two games employed artificial intelligence in their development: Silent Hill: Ascension and Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections.
In the case of Naruto, internet users believe that the dialogue delivery sounds unnatural to the extent that they think it was a product of artificial intelligence.
Did Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections use artificial intelligence?
However, the company responsible for the game's release confirmed that this is not the case. According to the official statement, the voices sound this way due to "inconsistencies" in editing and not due to imperfect use of artificial intelligence, despite clues and analyses conducted by some fans on certain recordings.
"Bandai Namco Entertainment can confirm that the lines in question were not generated by AI but were the result of inconsistencies during the editing and mastering process (the final stage of post-production)," the company stated to IGN.
Having clarified the above, Bandai Namco Entertainment acknowledged the fans' concerns and announced that they will not leave the inconsistencies as they are but are already working on a patch to fix them soon.
"We apologize for causing concern among Naruto fans and the voice acting community," commented Bandai Namco Entertainment. "We are working to correct the dialogue lines in question, which will be patched in the near future."
