All the good things come to an end eventually. Shinji Hashimoto just announced his retirement from the gaming industry. After almost 30 years of delivering Square Enix’s classics, Hashimoto says goodbye and thanks everyone through a very wholesome tweet:

“Thank you for all your hard work, everyone. As of today, May 31, I have retired. Thank you to everyone who everyone who helped me out across the board during my time in the office. From now on, I would like to give Square Enix my support as its biggest fan. Thank you so much.”

Hashimoto began his gaming career at Squaresoft in April 1994, where he co-produced the original Front Mission for Super Famicom. He later became the brand manager of the Final Fantasy series and kept working for the franchise for over a decade. Hashimoto also was the executive producer of the Kingdom Hearts series and served as an executive officer of Square Enix Holdings.
