Halo Co-Creator Has Nothing Good to Say About EA

Following the disaster that was Battlefield 2042, Electronic Arts revealed in 2022 that a studio led by the co-creator of Halo would take charge of the next Battlefield game. However, the studio didn't fare well, and apparently, the leader of the studio wasn't happy with Electronic Arts' decisions.
Although Electronic Arts announced the founding of Ridgeline Games in 2022 to work on Battlefield, by the end of February this year, its founder, the father of Halo's Master Chief and director of the new Battlefield experience, Marcus Lehto, left the team, at the same time that Electronic Arts confirmed it would disband Ridgeline Games as an independent studio.

Although the co-creator of Halo mentioned he had left the studio of his own volition, the creative has just shared more details about his departure and the closure of Ridgeline Games.
Through Twitter (X), Lehto spoke about the lack of information he has shared about what happened and explained that it's because he has "nothing positive to say about EA [Electronic Arts]".
In his message, he not only shows some resentment towards the company's decisions but also towards the layoffs that impacted his studio, which is a widespread issue in the video game industry.

"I haven't said much here because I have nothing positive to say about EA, my recent departure, and how so many, including my team, are suffering due to widespread industry layoffs," the creative expressed.
Not everything that Ridgeline Games worked on was discarded, as Electronic Arts revealed that Criterion would take over the Battlefield project, and some employees from the now-defunct studio would be relocated to Ripple Effect.
