Silent Hill appears to be planning more than just a return to the video game industry. A third film based on this property has long been confirmed to be in the works Although many details are still unknown, a Reddit user revealed the main inspirations for this project.
Christophe Gans, who directed the first Silent Hill film and is also in charge of this new incursion into the big screen, spoke at a film festival in France. Gans revealed that the next Silent Hill project is inspired by films such as Midsommar.

The director stated that Silent Hill is a metaphysical experience, implying that his project will be inspired by games such as Silent Hill 2 and Homecoming. Finally, Gans stated that they are already looking for filming locations in Serbia and that the film is expected to be released in 2023, though no official details are available at this time.
Gans stated in an interview in June that he has already met with Konami. In an interview with Ecran Lage (via Resetera) in August, he stated that he "practically finished all the storyboards, and actually has references to P.T because, obviously, it made us all dream."
