It has been some time since Sony held its last PlayStation Showcase. Luckily, it seems that the wait will soon be over. According to reputable insiders, a new digital event from the company will take place very soon and will host the announcement of one of the most highly anticipated video games of the past months.

A NEW PLAYSTATION SHOWCASE IN MAY? IT'S LIKELY

During a recent episode of the Games Mess Mornings program, journalist and insider Jeff Grubb affirmed that it is very likely that Sony will hold a new PlayStation Showcase at some point in May. While he did not reveal a date, he commented that it could occur during the next month or, failing that, at the beginning of June before the Summer Game Fest.

"If I had to guess right now, I'd say probably May...I think before E3 is the safest bet. So probably May, maybe early June...that seems like the right time to get that PlayStation Showcase." Jeff Grubb said.

Jeff Grubb has already proven to be a reliable source, as he was the one who revealed the first details of the last State of Play. That being said, his comments gained strength due to recent comments from other insiders.

During an episode of the XboxEra Podcast, expert Shpeshal Nick stated that he heard that Mortal Kombat 12, the new installment of the popular Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios franchise, will be revealed during the next PlayStation Showcase. Co-host Rand al Thor said that it is likely that Sony has the marketing rights to this game.

If that's not enough, a few days ago, journalist Jez Corden of Windows Central suggested that Mortal Kombat 12 will be officially announced in May. All signs suggest that a new PlayStation Showcase will take place next month and that it will be where we see the announcement of the new fighting franchise.

However, we remind you that this information lacks official confirmation, so we recommend taking it with a grain of salt and waiting for an announcement from Sony. When there is official information, we will let you know.
